Pearl FALCO wishes to thank SingaLife for featuring members of the Pearl FALCO community and team members in a series of six articles about Pearl FALCO’s “Jewelry Makers.” SingaLife’s original articles were published in Japanese, and are translated into English here. From the SingaLife Series, Maiko’s “Interview with a Pearl FALCO Custom Jewelry Designer.”
Pearl Experts Make Ise Shima & Cultured Pearls Sing
Thanks to Ise Shima’s unique ecology and the dedicated efforts of so many people over the last 120 years, sustainable pearl cultivation continues to thrive here in Ise Shima, Japan, the birthplace of some of the world’s most beautiful cultured pearls.
Introducing Ms Nami Yamamoto. An Artist with Custom Pearl Jewelry Design
Ms Nami Yamamoto, a professional who oversees the manufacture and sale of pearls and creates “popular products” by fusing customer service, design, engraving, and pearls from different perspectives, was born and raised in Shima City, Mie Prefecture Japan.
Nami’s Passion: Helping to Reveal A Customer’s Inner Beauty
Nami explains how she didn’t know much about pearls or pearl jewelry before joining Pearl FALCO 12 years ago. Now over a decade later, enchanted by the versatility of pearl jewelry as an art form, Nami is dedicated to helping Pearl FALCO customers “discover their inner beauty.”
In addition to being responsible for quality control and pricing, Nami is especially fond of working with Pearl FALCO customers, collaborating to create, render and fabricate some of the most extraordinary custom jewelry designs, ‘Custom Jewelry Design’ being a Pearl FALCO specialty.
Nami Explains, “Pearl FALCO Designs Are Designed For A Lifetime of Memories.”
Nami recalls how one Pearl FALCO Customer who purchased a pendant design contacted Nami to relate how she was wearing her new pendant every day, helping her connect with her husband and family in such a new and wonderful way.
Nami explains how sharing pearl jewelry with family members makes her role at Pearl FALCO so much more worthwhile and rewardable. What a rewarding occupation, sharing gifts of jewelry with loved ones, bringing families closer together.
Pearl Jewelry Builds Confidence and Inner Strength Like No Other Gemstone
Like every snowflake, every pearl is born in nature and unique. The color and brilliance are different. There are dents, wrinkles and deformations, and the mother oyster wraps each pearl with nacre a little differently.
With over 4000 Pearl FALCO jewelry designs to date, Nami hopes Pearl FALCO customers appreciate how each individual pearl in every work comes together to create synergistic designs. Evaluated and selected by human eyes, the more Nami learns about pearls, the more she is able to help her customers look amazing.
Together We Can Overcome the Challenges Before Us
Largely due to the effects of climate change, Ise Shima’s Akoya pearl production has fallen to less than 1/10th of its peak. If that were not challenging enough, in 2019, Akoya Mother Oysters died off in large numbers. Ise Shima Japan is intricately involved in not only the cultivation of Akoya pearls, but also processing, coloring, evaluation, sorting, engraving and sales.
Now more than ever, Pearl FALCO and Ise Shima are dedicated to combating climate change while sharing the beauty and wonder of Akoya pearls with the world.
Not Just For Life Changing Ceremonies, Pearl Jewelry Is An Affordable Choice for Any Occasion
“Not just for ceremonial occasions, Akoya Pearls are ‘hot’ right now, especially for everyday wear. Young people worldwide are becoming aware of the beauty of Akoya pearls. I am dedicated to sharing that beauty with the world.”
Nami explains, “The pearl industry begins with people’s “feelings” and connects those ‘feelings.’ The challenges will always be there. It is up to us to overcome the obstacles and share big dreams”
One of Yamamoto-san’s Favorite Pearl FALCO Designs
One of Yamamoto-san’s own creations, and among the most popular designs from our Pearl FALCO Art & Design Series. Shizuku 雫. ‘Shizuku’ Means ‘Dew Drop’ in Japanese, honoring the Ancient Romans who thought of pearls as dew drops from the moon, or ‘Moon Drops.’
Easily worn in either ‘waning or waxing moon phases,’ this arrangement portrays the moon cradling her baby pearls, signifying ‘Love, Family and Connection.’
Her Favorite Pearl FALCO Father’s Day Gift
While some might not think of pearl jewelry as an obvious choice for a Father’s Day Gift, in fact a number of our customers share brooch pins, thanking their Dads for teaching them how to play their favorite sport.
At Pearl FALCO, we conceive of our heirloom quality pearl jewelry celebrating, ‘Love, Family and the Ties that Bind Us Together.’ A number of Pearl FALCO’s one-of-a-kind Akoya pearl brooch pin designs would be a perfect match for the ‘Dads’ in your life.
