How Pearl FALCO Supports Earth Day Throughout Asia
Another way Pearl FALCO is exploring how to make Earth Day more meaningful is by supporting K-12 educational opportunities for underserved children throughout Asia. Through our Pearl of Hope Project, Pearl FALCO enables young scholars to complete their primary and secondary education in their local schools, providing annual scholarships to underserved children throughout the region, from the top of the Himalayas to the Islands of the Philippines.
A Pearl FALCO undertaking now in its 3rd decade, Pearl FALCO is proud to report how many of our ‘Pearl of Hope Scholars’ have and / or plan on attending college. Even more encouraging, each and every one of the Pearl of Hope Scholars bring hope for a brighter future for themselves, their families and for their communities.
Ise Shima’s Ama Women Divers’ Continue to Protect Ise Shima’s Natural Heritage
Not only is Ise Shima the location of Japan’s oldest and most revered Shinto Shrine, the sacred home of the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu, Ise Shima is also world-renowned for a 3000 year old tradition of Ama Women Divers.
Just as with pearl farmers in Ise Shima or farmers of all varieties from all four corners of the globe, the Ama Women Divers fully appreciate what it means to be vigilant and proactive environmental stewards for all that earth provides for us.
Without Your Support, Ise Shima Would Be a Very Different Place
One could say with some degree of confidence, Ise Shima has been in the ‘100% sustainable pearl cultivation business’ over 130 years. Akoya Pearl Cultivations starts from planting tress which creates prankton for mother oysters. The muscle can be eaten and oysters are recycled to fertilizer or fish foods. Oyster shells are made into botton. Ise Shima Japan was dedicated as a National Park in 1946, and it was not by accident. By working with nature, so many generations of Ise Shima residents have helped to maintain pearl cultivation as a cultural tradition in close coordination and cooperation with ‘Mother Nature.’
Most Especially, Thanks to Our Valued Customers, Pearl FALCO is able to fully support and carry on the grand art and tradition of sustainable pearl cultivation. As our customers share Pearl FALCO Jewelry with their beloved friends and family members, they help to make Earth Day even more impactful for all of us. Thank You!
“We Do Not Inherit The Earth From Our Ancestors.
We Borrow It From Our Children.” Wendell Berry
As CEO of Pearl Falco, I am delighted to meet with college students here in Singapore and young people the world over on a regular basis, and I am so encouraged by what I hear from them. In my own personal experience, I am heartened by how once a problem is recognized, we come together to do everything we can to solve it. I’m extremely optimistic for the future for all our children, for their children and beyond.
As we work together to better understand and care for our planet as we share knowledge and gain courage from each other, we commit to aspire to maintain the web of life and how we care for it and each other. Pearl FALCO thanks you for joining us on this great endeavor!
