“We Do Not Inherit the Earth from Our Ancestors. We Borrow It from Our Children”
Maiko’s parents were her inspiration, having launched the original Pearl of Hope Program over 30 years ago in 1987, aiding underserved children in the Philippines. To this day, many of Pearl FALCO’s Team Members continue to donate to the program from their own salaries.
Even more intriguing, Members of our Pearl FALCO Family in Ise Shima Japan today are Pearl of Hope Scholars who have since graduated from college. Now, since 2018, the “Pearl of Hope Challenge” has expanded to support children throughout Asia from the Philippines to the Himalayas.
Beautiful ‘Postcards’ from the Zanskar Region. Post Covid-19 Lockdown restrictions, in June of 2022, Maiko was finally able to recently re-visit the Himalayas.

About Pearl FALCO CEO, Maiko Makito
With her parents having ‘grounded’ Maiko with a strong sense of self-reliance and adventure, Maiko started backpacking across different territories and continents in Eurasia from her college days, affording Maiko the opportunity to learn so much about communities and culture across Eurasia’s great expanse. Hiking across vast stretches of Eurasia, Maiko gained a deeper personal understanding of our common human bond.
Hiking in Eurasia, Maiko explained, “It was me, nature and the people beneath the sky. This taught me the importance of life and people, and I feel we are the same and so intricately interconnected under the sky beyond language and cultures, which is something we oftentimes forget too easily.”
Maiko was trekking through Eurasia when she decided to join the NEC Corporation, lured by the opportunity to work in developing countries. It was fate that stationed Maiko in the Great Asian Metropolitan Hub Of Culture and Commerce, Singapore, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and there was no turning back.
Maiko left NEC Corporation in 2016 while in Singapore to help take the reins of Pearl FALCO, her family’s business, while tending to her children and building a new home in Singapore.
As Maiko remarked, “It was as if all the different aspects of my life came together, like an intricately woven pearl necklace, a work of art composed of natural born gemstones, weaving together moments in my own life that has brought me to where I am now.”
Thank You For Your Support For Our “Pearl Of Hope” Project
As Maiko explained, “In this sense, I think of the Pearl of Hope Project as a virtuous circle without end. Our customers are able to share expressions of love and devotion with timeless works of art as together we support our local communities, simultaneously sharing our passion for supporting the longer-term educational aspirations of children throughout Asia.”
For so many children in Asia, education poses the best possible path to a better quality of life for themselves, their families and their communities.
We hope this year too will be a wonderful experience for all of those taking part, sharing luxury pearl jewelry with loved ones while helping Pearl FALCO raise funds for this worthy cause. Thank You So Much For Your Continued Support!
